

On Saturday, April 15, 2017, Andrea Maria Esquer lost her five year fight with ovarian cancer at the age of 51 at the Banner University Center in Phoenix, Arizona and is now joined with her deceased mother, Cecilia Denogean Esquer who passed in 2010. She was born Andrea Maria Esquer on March 17, 1966. She is survived by her father, Elias Yescas Esquer, her brother Marcos Esquer and Barb Lang, his partner. Also left behind are aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Lizarraga, Mendivil, Denogean and Reza families.
Andrea grew up in Tempe where she attended elementary and secondary school. She opted for U of A in Tucson where she graduated with a degree in journalism in 1988. Andrea worked for a newspaper in Reno, Nevada for a year and returned to ASU for a master’s degree in public administration.
When Bill Clinton was elected she left for Washington DC for a five year stay where she worked for the department of energy; was shifted to the West Wing for 18 months and ended her stay in DC at NASA as the scheduler for Dan Golden, the agency director. When George W. Bush was appointed by the Supreme Court, she left DC and came home. She then worked for Mesa Community College and the City of Mesa.
When Terry Goddard became Attorney General she worked for him as his Press Secretary for the last four or five years of his term.
In 2009, she applied and was accepted into the college of law at ASU and graduated in 2011. In 2012, she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Her last place of employment was at the Maricopa County Department of Transportation as a Public Information officer. Besides her interest in journalism and politics, she devoted her spare time to the arts. She has been a member of the Xico board (a non-profit) for 15 or 20 years. Her other love is travel and she has done that extensively. Her life will be memorialized on Friday the 28th of April 2017 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 3550 E. Knox Rd. Phoenix, AZ 85004. There will be a reception following the memorial service at the Living Hope Church located at 2620 West Broadway Rd. suite 13 Mesa AZ. 85202.
