Bernie was the first person I met in high school. We became great friends. Both  of us lost our fathers at a young age. Bernie met Joe and that was it. A great love forged that lasted forever. I remember their early married years. Joe would work many hours and extra jobs to save money.  They were very loving to everyone. I still live outside Philly. When I traveled for Marriott, Bernie, Joe and I got together a few times.It was just like old times..  All of us are blessed to have shared part of their life May bothBernie and  Joe be in heaven with our Lord.


* I think my most clear memory of my Aunt Bernie is the  focused intensity with which she listened to someone else.  If she was talking to someone, even from across the room, you could see her piercing gaze into someone else eyes, then into their heart and soul. Anytime you left her presence, you knew you had been heard... and that you mattered to her. 
* My second strongest memory is of her face.... when Uncle Joe and my dad would be cutting up and being totally inappropriate. Her expression was a mix of  exasperated embarrassment on one level... but mostly,” How can I keep a straight face?”  It makes me smile to think of those moments. 
I love my Aunt Bernie. I love them BOTH so much. 
I’m sorry that all of you know the pain of losing them both.
