Chadahyah Hawkins was born Maria Romain Cherry, Novermber 4, 1956 to very proud parents Cornelius E. and Dorothy J. Cherry. During her life with us, Maria was known to us and will always be lovingly called “Chubby.”
Chubby attended Dunbar and Lowell Elementary schools and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1974.
Chubby married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth L. Walker and they became proud parents of two sons; Kenneth L. Walker II and Terrence D. Walker Sr. (their greatest accomplishments) and grandparent to Terrence D. Walker, Jr.
Chubby worked as a seamstress at Gerber for 2 years. She also attended and was hired by Phoenix Job Corp where she worked for 10 years. Her last place of work was for DHL for 12 years.
Chubby lived a year with one of her younger sisters and brother-in-law; Jameselle and Gerald Feacher. They enjoyed her company in the final months of her strength and they lovingly cared for her in the final days of her weakness. Chubby died in the home of the Feachers on December 31, 2015 at 10:05 am with her parents, brother, and her sisters by her side.
Chubby leaves behind not only her parents, sons, and grandson, but her brother and sisters: Emanuel C. Cherry, Verliddia M. Carroll, Antoinette R. Cherry, Armieda J. Huff, Jameselle L. Feacher, and Llynette K. Grant. She also says farewell to many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends, in whose hearts her memory will live on forever and ever.
‘Till we meet again with our beloved departed, in the Kingdom of our Heavenly Father and His Son.
