He was born on July 10, 1936 in Blythe, California to Mattie Clayton Smith and Ashby Wellington Stewart.
Charles served in the Navy and attended college in San Bernardino, California, and he worked for Motorola and Roosevelt school district.
Charles was a businessman. He built a log cabin home in Holbrook, Arizona in the 1980s, which the family still owns today.
He married Gazell Stewart in 1994, and the two had resided in Holbrook, Arizona for 30 years.
Charles leaves behind many family members to cherish his loving memory: his wife, Gazell Stewart; his sister, Margie Blackman; his five children, Charlotte Stewart, Charles Stewart Jr., William Stewart, Bridget Stewart, and Christopher Stewart; his seven grandchildren and four step-children, Monique Greer, Olivia Greer, Tyrone Geer, Taiwan Greer and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
