Consuelo H. Acosta

Born in Chamberino, New Mexico, and as a young girl became a wife and loving mother, where she later moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1971. She had the biggest heart and was a loving and giving person to all that she knew. She loved to dance, laugh, and be around all of her family and friends near and far.

She was a hard-working woman and worked for many years at Smitty’s baking her delicious pies and pizzas. She also worked for the Phoenix Union High School District and retired after 20 years of service at the age of 74.

She had Pulmonary Fibrosis, and healthy otherwise, was a tough cookie, who fought to do what she had to do to maintain this illness. She passed away peacefully with all her children at her bedside and will have to suffer no more.

Survived by her loving children, Mary Ann Gauna, Nancy & Mark Diethelm, Lawrence Jr. & Katrina Acosta, Mary Helen & F. Javier Merino & Jose M. Rivera. Grandchildren, Federico, Monique, Mariah, Nyla, Lil’Larry, Conny, Niki, Danielle, Alex, Carlos, Michael, John, Mark, Sterling, Adrian, Giovanni, Julian. First of all my condolences to the entire family a beautiful woman who was Mom, Nana, sister, Tia, cousin and friend has been called home and each one of us will miss you miss you greatly. My memories of Tia Connie are that of a little girl admiring her tata’s sister so beautiful in her beautiful outfits and those high heels dancing like she was just gracefully floating it was so fun to watch her. As I grew up she seemed to get even more beautiful and loved her smile and sense of humor and those high heels how I admired her charm, beauty just the way she carried herself with such confidence how we used to get so excited to see “ my Tia Connie” when she came to visit my Tata as a little girl and throughout the years as I grew up always excited to see her and greet her with a hug and kiss. Tia Connie you are off to visit with my Nana and Tata greet them with a hug and kiss for me as you now dance in the sky we love you until we see you again Tia you will live on through our memories and hearts.

I remember going thru her closet trying on all her beautiful dresses and high heels putting on her perfume watching her get ready for work. She was an amazing strong confident woman who I secretly admired and will truly miss her.

You'll be deeply missed mom! You had a welcoming heart from the beginning and gave it to me quickly, you became my mom and my name became Mija. It started with a drawer and my favorite shampoo. I was always told "My mom loves you more than me". You became Danielle's nana at 4yrs old after she told you her secret and you accepted the request, you both sealed the deal with candy and throughout her life beans. Alex came along and he loved you dearly you were an awesome nana. Rest in peace dancing in heaven like you always did in the driveway. All three of us will take care good care of Larry for you. I'll miss you mom. Thank you for being an amazing not just mother in law but an amazing bonus mom. I 💜 you.

"Can I tell you a secret? Do you want to be my nana?" Plays in my head over and over again. Funny how things workout. You're welcome mom and dad for bringing you guys together!. lol All because a random little girl walked up to you nana with a secret to tell. Love you always. 💜
