She attended South Mountain High School and, upon graduation, held various customer service positions, some in leadership, within different industries. She was set to retire as an employee of the City of Phoenix Water Department where she received several commendations for her spirit of excellence and desire to serve. Deidre was a deeply spiritual woman who gave her life to Jesus Christ at an early age and never departed from her faith. She was baptized at Union Institutional Baptist Church which she attended with her family for many years. While a long standing member at the River of Life Church, Deidre successfully completed all five levels of the Armour Bearers Bible Discipleship program and later attended AZUSA World Ministries.
Although battling a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis for much of her life, Deidre was very lively and social. She was often described as giving, nurturing, and extremely kind. Dee Dee always had a smile on her face and a word of encouragement for those who surrounded her. She loved entertaining guests, decorating, listening to music and dancing, fashion, enjoying meals with loved ones, and, most of all, anything that could generate some laughs.
Dee Dee was proceeded in death by her father, Charles Gipson. She will be lovingly remembered by her son, Kevyn Griffen; her mother, Willie Dean Gipson; her brother, Gregory Charles Gipson; her sisters: Angela Gibson, Deanna Obuobi, and Joanna Gipson, the rest of her extended family, and friends.
