

Donald Lewis Brower, 84 of Tempe, Arizona, passed away quietly in his sleep Thursday morning May 29, 2014. Donald was born July 1, 1929 in Bow Legs, Oklahoma to Leota and Chester Brower. The family moved around a bit but eventually settled in Washington State in 1940. He graduated from Toppenish high school as a four sport letterman in 1947 and went into the Air Force later that year. He was stationed in Alaska and flew on a B17, rigged for air/sea rescue as the crew communications technician. After leaving the military in 1951, he moved to Arizona and tended bar while attending Arizona State College. He met his future wife, Beulah; they married on July 5, 1955 and settled in Tempe. While they raised their four children, he continued to tend bar and worked for the US postal service until he retired on disability in the late 70’s. He loved spending time with the family fishing, hunting, camping and hiking. They traveled all around North America including driving several times to Alaska for salmon fishing. They also liked to spend their summers at their property north of Heber. He is preceded in death by his wife Beulah Brower, his mother Leota Jeske, his father Chester Brower, his sisters Ivolene and Margaret and his brother Hershel. He is survived by his sisters Toggie Farbrache and Billie Wildman, both of Washington. His four children Todd Brower and his wife Joy of Tempe, Rebecca Brower of Tempe, Lynn Noble and her husband Ron of Phoenix, and Deen Brower and his wife Debbie of Las Vegas. He was grandpa to Jaclyn, Tamra, Jennifer, Christopher, Jermy, Nicholas, Chris and Michael and Joey with his extended family. He was also a great grandpa to Tristian, Ryan, Tyler, Mikey and CoCo. He also has numerous nieces, nephews and cousins as well. A Family Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm, at the Kiwanis Recreation Center, 6111 South All America Way, Tempe, Arizona 85283. A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 at 9:00 am, at Resthaven Park Cemetery, 4310 East Southern Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85042. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations that be sent in his honor to Hospice of the Valley, at 1510 East Flower Street Phoenix, AZ 85014.
