

Edward Lawrence Jordan passed away September 23, 2016 in Tempe, Arizona. He was born June 4, 1919 to Nell Willis Jordan and Thomas Dawson Jordan in Macon, Georgia. He grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and West Palm Beach, Florida. Larry joined the U.S Army Air Corps as a pilot trainee on December 11, 1941 at Luke AFB, Arizona. Because of his past experience as a private pilot after receiving his silver AF wings and gold bars as a 2nd Lieutenant he was assigned as a flight instructor for American and Chinese trainees. After leaving Luke AFB he became a fighter pilot and flew WWII fighters then jets. He was assigned as a maintenance engineer, test pilot and squadron commander. During 24 years he served three tours in the Pacific area: Japan, the Philippines, Guam and Okinawa. Larry retired from the U.S. Air Force at Luke AFB and made his home in Tempe, Arizona with his lovely wife, Peggy. He is survived by a daughter; Mary Lynn Jordan Vickers, sons; Thomas Newell Jordan and John Lee Jordan (Mary Kay), four grandchildren, three step grandchildren and eight step great grand children. A graveside service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Wednesday, October 12 at 10 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Resthaven/ Carr Tenney Mortuary www.resthavencarrtenney.com. Larry and wife, Peggy, who passed away after 72 years of marriage, on February 23, 2014 will be buried together. In memory of Peggy and Larry , do something special for someone you love.
