Ernest Eugene Jones Jr.

90, was born April 7, 1925 to Ernest and Virginia Jones of Masonville, Kentucky. He passed May 15, 2015 at Bella Vista Senior Living, Mesa, Arizona. After graduating from high school he joined the Army Air Force as a flight navigator. While on assignment he met Ruth Crumbaker of Tempe, and they married in 1946. After graduation from the University of Kentucky, he joined the FHA-USDA and worked in Indiana, Springerville, Yuma, Wilcox, and Phoenix. While in Wilcox, he was a volunteer firefighter, a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge, served on the city Zoning Board, and was active in community life. Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Dorothy, his brothers Joe and James. He is survived by his wife Ruth, daughter Barbara Lutgendorf (Bob), son Howard (Mary), grandchildren Sara Bentz (Josh), Sean Jones, Julia Lutgendorf (Robert), and Michael Lutgendorf; great grandchildren Dakota and Collin Bentz, and Desmond Lutgendorf-Hill; sister Betty Allen and brother Edward Jones. Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 10:30am at First United Methodist Church, 215 E University Dr, Tempe, AZ 85281. Arrangements entrusted to Resthaven\Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley and the Bella Vista staff for their kind care and compassion.
