Eva Holguin Quintero was born on April 5, 1942, to her loving parents, Gabriel and Felicitas Holguin. She was a seasonal migrant worker in Wasco, California when she met Pedro Quintero. Her parents generously gave Pedro’s family a place to stay and they became friends. Eva and Pedro’s lives went down separate paths until, in her greatest hour of need, he was there for her. Pedro was living in a small horse drawn cabin nearby when Eva’s brother’s car broke down. Elias ran to get help from his best friend, Pedro. Pedro drove Eva to the hospital where she was blessed with her first daughter, Debbie. After Debbie was born, Pedro was in the service and his sister, Katie, and mother, Angela, came to ask Gabriel for Eva’s address so he could write to her. Their relationship grew through letters while he was in the service and they were married on December 24, 1962. They were blessed with 6 more wonderful children: Paul, Lisa, Stevan “Stevie”, Roberta, Sofia, and Eva Marie who went on to give Eva and Pedro 30 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Eva was a devout Christian and a faithful member of the River of Life Tabernacle Church. She was known by all for her kindness, generosity, humor, excellent cooking, and making everyone who crossed her path feel like family. She greeted everyone with a genuine smile, a big hug, and loved making food to feed family and friends. She lived a beautiful life dedicated to the Lord and her loving family. Her legacy of welcoming everyone she met into her family will live on in those left behind.
Eva was called home to our Lord the night of July 21, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Debbie, grandson Andrew, granddaughter Christina "Tina", siblings Lucy, Gabriel, Aurelio, Elias, Ana, and Hermelinda, as well as nieces and nephews Gabriel, Joe, Benjamin "Benny, Armando "Mandi", Frank, Javier "Litos", and Estella.
