

93 passed away peacefully on February 7, 2012 in Phoenix, AZ. Born on August 7, 1918 in Burnley, Lancashire County, England, Fred was the son of the late Joseph and Harriet Ellis Turner. He was preceded in death by Audrey, his beloved wife of 60 years; brother and sister, Harold Turner and Ivy Dunn and twin great-grandsons, Turner and Hunter Jameson, also his niece Rita Colter. Fred is survived by his only child, Carole Garstang and her husband Collin; his granddaughter Meghan Jameson and her husband Matt, all of Phoenix, Arizona. He also leaves a brother-in-law, Joseph Dunn and a niece Marjorie Hubbard, both of Pittsfield, MA; and, a nephew Bernard Dunn and his wife Anne of Cummaquid, MA, plus many great nieces and nephews. Fred served in the British Army for 6 years during World War II and is a veteran of the Battle of Dunkirk. He immigrated to Pittsfield, MA in 1948, briefly worked at General Electric Co. and then Eaton Paper Company/Shaeffer Eaton for 30 years. He was a member of the Crescent Pittsfield Lodge of Masons where he served as a Master in 1970 and 1980. He was also a 32̊ Knight Templar. Fred and his wife Audrey retired in Port St. Lucie, FL in 1980. They happily lived there until Audrey’s passing in 2001, when Fred then moved to Troy, Michigan to live with his daughter Carole and son-in-law. In 2011, Fred, Carole and Collin moved to Phoenix, AZ to live in the sun! In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mr. Fred Turner may be made to the Crescent Pittsfield Lodge AF & AM c/o Steven B.
