Gary L. "Skipper" Hall passed away on May 27, 2026 at the age of 84. He was born on September 10, 1941 to Walter C. "Dub" and Maude Hall at home in Lehi, AZ. His family soon moved to Chandler, where he grew up and attended school.
He married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Garner, in 1960 and they soon settled down in Chandler. Working at the International Harvester proving grounds alongside his dad was Skipper's dream, so he took the first job that came available, janitor. He quickly advanced on to heavy equipment mechanic and equipment operator putting each machine through grueling tests until the proving grounds closed in the 1980's. He started Hall's Ironworks, and was designer and builder of projects of all scope and size. Skipper served as president and member of the Lehi Mounted Sheriff's Posse helping with search and rescue incidents and aided law enforcement when needed. He and Shirley moved to Maricopa in the mid 80's where he farmed, raised longhorns and continued his business on land that is now the golf course at Rancho Eldorado.
Skipper had a way with horses. He could convince a horse to go along with just about anything he asked of them, he used a kind voice and a gentle hand. He was an exceptional horseman winning state gymkhanas on his horse Duke. His real love was team roping, where he won many buckles and saddles all across the state into his late 70's. He was a real cowboy, always tipping his hat to greet someone and never met a stranger. He preferred to spend his days in his shop or in the arena surrounded by his friends.
Skipper was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister Barbara Watson and his wife of 62 years, Shirley.
He is survived by his sisters Judy Wells and Joanne Hall, his two children Lori Stuart (Joe) and Scott Hall, his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
