Jerry Kulpa, aged 79, of Queen Creek, AZ, left this world peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, January 9, 2024, with his wife of 51 years by his side.
Born on April 16, 1944, in Chicago, IL, Jerry was the cherished son of Marie and Felix Kulpa. His father, Felix, had settled in Chicago after emigrating from Poland in the early 1900s.
Jerry pursued his education at Loyola University Chicago, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Business. He also served as the esteemed President of Alpha Kappa Si and received the “Man of the Year” award in 1967.
Jerry proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Returning stateside in 1969, he spent a short time in his hometown of Chicago before meeting his future wife, Sue Kulpa, in 1969. It was a love that ignited instantly. Sue and Jerry exchanged vows in 1972. In 1976, they welcomed their first born, Jason Kulpa.
In 1979, Jerry relocated his family to Yuma, AZ where he founded his first business venture, The Super Shopper magazine. Establishing deep roots in Yuma, Jerry and Sue welcomed their second and third child.
Building on the successful sale of the Super Shopper, and driven by an unyielding spirit, he founded a new magazine, The Prospector. Showcasing his remarkable work ethic, humility, and unwavering integrity as a businessman, the business excelled. Jerry sold his second magazine and moved a few years later to San Diego, CA.
Throughout his career in sales and marketing, Jerry achieved success with two thriving magazines in Yuma. Committed to his faith, he served the Catholic Church as a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus. Jerry was not only a dedicated businessman but also a loving husband and father, he is leaving a void that will be deeply felt.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Susan Kulpa.
Son: Jason Kulpa and wife, Melissa Kulpa (Anderson) and grandsons, Brady and Cooper.
Son: Adam Kulpa and wife, Kristin Kulpa (Madison) and grandsons, Easton and Parker
Daughter: Janelle Kulpa (Seals) and husband, Ryan Seals and grandchildren, Sean and Charlotte.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents and sister; Marie and Felix Kulpa, and Dorothy Huff.
Services will be held at 11am on January 24, 2024at Shadow Mountain Mortuary and National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
