John William Lamb, 97, of Tempe passed away. God called our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend home on Wednesday, November 20, 2024. His quiet kindness and love will be missed by all. John was the longest, continuously licensed optician in the state of Arizona. He was a WWII veteran. He was a small business owner in downtown Phoenix, Luke Air Force Base, and Tempe for over 70 years. He was a member of the service organizations: Phoenix JayCees, Loyal Order of the Moose, and Lions Club International. John was also an avid sports fan of ASU football, Roadrunner and Coyote hockey, Suns basketball, and Arizona Diamondbacks. John's deepest desire was to help people in need, especially with their eye sight. He donated countless hours of his time and materials to be sure people had the glasses they needed to see the world, especially children. No one walked out of his optical businesses without some kind of help with their vision, no matter their ability to pay. He carried this desire into every part of his life, helping others in need even when he himself might be close to destitute. His loving and caring wife Ruth Anna Rommel Lamb, who preceded him in death by 16 years, shared this desire with John, and together they helped any who asked through their nearly 60 years of marriage. John was also preceded in death by their darling daughter Darla Jean, his parents Ernest Perry Lamb and Jennie Luella McCrea Lamb, and his sister Eva May Kornitz. He is survived by his daughters Doris June Krugen and Dianna Jane Dohm, and his son Dennis John Lamb. John is additionally survived by six grandchildren: Kathie Lambert, Karyn Little, Kristin Greggory, Nolan Lamb, Andrea Lamb, and Libby Treadway as well as 13 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.Visitation from 9-11 a.m., funeral services at 11 a.m., and interment at noon will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens/Carr-Tenney Mortuary, 4310 E.
