
John Louis Turner was born in Keota, Oklahoma on November 10th, 1925 to James Edgar and Ama Elizabeth Turner. He passed away on January 7, 2016 at the age of 90 in Chandler, Arizona where as a boy of nine years of age, he would jump over the now towering palm trees in front of the San Marcos Hotel on his way home from school. He was proud to be a resident of Chandler from childhood until his death. He was a decorated veteran, Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient of World War ll, where he saw action in the Battle of the Bulge. Returning home from War he resumed his place of employment with U,S. Post Office and married Violet Dreathy Jones in 1946. At the age of 55, John retired from the post office. He and his wife Violet enjoyed many years of retirement in their mountain retreat in Payson AZ. He was a dedicated Christian who served as an Elder for many years at the Chandler and Payson Churches of Christ, He was preceded in death by his parents, James Edgar Turner and Ama Elizabeth Turner; his wife Violet, whom he was married to for 56 years; and his grandson, Charles Clifford Johnson Gray. He also was preceded in death by his brother James Edgar Turner, Jr. He is survived by his three daughters; Elizabeth Gray of Chandler and son-in-law Gary, Patricia Kent of Casa Grande and son-in-law Arlo, Louise Covey of Bastrop, Texas and son-in-law Smith, and one son, James Turner of Chandler and daughter-in-law Tracy. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He in now resting in the shadow of the shadow of the Almighty of whom he was a faithful servant all his life.
