John was born in Clifton, Arizona, to father Irval Joseph White and mother Alice Agnes (Barber) White. The White family homesteaded here in Arizona, living most of their lives in Tempe. Growing up on his family’s dairy farm, John didn’t have the opportunity for much formal education. He worked on their farm starting at an early age, until he married. John worked as a heavy machine operator for Salt River Project (SRP) all the way up to his retirement. He was devoted to his family and treasured his time with friends and neighbors. John enjoyed many trips hunting and fishing and was alway up for a game of dominoes, washers, a great puzzle or beating anyone at gin rummy. He was passionate about all types of wood or steel work and liked to keep himself busy, creating all sorts of useful and decorative items.
John was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary Louise Rogers and Alice Jean Keeling and wife Yvonne Mary (Lancaster) White. He is survived by his sons Dennis (Kas) White and Gary (Stephanie) White; grandchildren Jason (Jennifer), Weston (Chelsea) and Katrina; great-grandchildren Alexis and Ian; many cherished nephews and nieces; and his beloved dog, Blaze.
He will be missed terribly.
