Missing her are her siblings Jenny, Maria (Piringa), Linda, Ruthie and Fidel and her children Maricela (Marcie) and Eduardo (Scooter), grandchildren Michele and Yvette, and great-grandchildren Arturo, Sal, Maggie and Rogan.
She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in March of 1929. She went to nurses training and worked in a cosmetic factory making lipstick until she traveled to California to take her grandma home. On her way back home she decided to stop and visit her dad who was living in Chandler, Arizona. Her spirit was unsettled and she was searching for something, but she did know what that was. She knew that her dad had found a peace that changed him so completely it must have been what she was seeking. When she got to Arizona she found her dad who was teaching in a bible college. He was so happy she decided to stay and attend the bible college as well. She studied under Dick Mercado, who led her to the Lord. That day was so special for her, she knew that day, without a doubt, that Jesus was in her heart. It was at this moment that she knew she was going to spend the rest of her life serving God and teaching others about His great love.
While she was in bible college she met her husband Eduardo Colin and had her daughter Maricela. After bible college she worked as a nurse’s aide and had her son Eduardo. Throughout this time she continued to grow and learn more about Jesus. In 1964 her marriage ended and she moved into the Duppa Villa housing projects. Here she found a little church, Morningside Presbyterian, on the corner of 20th street and Roosevelt, where she met so many beautiful people who helped nurtured her growth in the Lord. She taught children’s church there for many years. About this time she was also introduced to Child Evangelism Fellowship, where she learned about Good News clubs, the “Wordless Book” and how to teach children about Jesus. She taught Good News clubs in her home and several other homes in the projects for many years.
She was a teacher’s aide at Edison and Whittier elementary schools while working part-time at Berean Christian Supply store until she retired from the schools and worked at Berean full-time. While she was working at Berean she was diagnosed with arthritis that was so debilitating that her employer started to look into long-term disability for her. A friend took her to Phoenix Life Center where she met Dr. Diana. Within 3 months of treatment she was almost completely pain-free and able to walk and use her hands again. She always said God used Dr. Diana to heal her. She continued to work at Berean until she retired.
Her last residence was on 39th Ave and Camelback, where she lived for 30 years. During these years she taught Good News club in her home everything Thursday.
Throughout her lifetime she taught Good News Clubs in various homes, the Easter Story at Phoenix Life Center and children’s church at Morningside, Faith Chapel and Teen Challenge where she led countless children to the Lord. She never stopped teaching, spreading the word or witnessing to kids, parents, family and friends and anyone who would listen. Her heart’s desire was to reach as many souls as possible, especially those of children, with the good news.
In recent years, with the help of Facebook, she was so pleased to know that the seeds that she planted in the lives of so many, continue to grow, and her legacy lives on by lives being changed and the gospel of God’s saving grace being shared. Her heart was so happy and she prayed every day for God’s blessing and anointing over everyone.
