A MESSAGE FROM THE FAMILY
Leborio “Tony” DeGeorge was born to Frank and Rose DeGeorge. Tony is survived by his loving wife, Mary Jane, married 62 years, his children Deneen Price (Bill), Anthony DeGeorge, Rose Sandoval (Maurice), Mary Vannoy, Daniel DeGeorge (Milissa) 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and his brothers John and Frank DeGeorge. A memorial Mass will be on Friday, June 27 at 11 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 1800 E Libra Dr, Tempe, AZ 85283. Tony was born in Staten Island, NY, attended Catholic Elementary and attended vocational training learning the plumbing trade. As a kid he enjoyed hanging out with his brothers at Coney Island Beach. He held a variety of jobs before moving with his family to Phoenix, AZ on 8/19/1953. He began working with his Father as an apprentice plumber and then joined the Plumbers Local Union. In July 1955, Tony joined the Army and served in Korea, receiving an Honorable Discharge in July 1958. He returned to the Plumbers Union, and his assignment was to work at Glen Canyon Dam in Northern Arizona. While working on that job, Tony met Mary Jane at a 1962 TGA St. Patrick’s Day event and they were married a year later, May 4, 1963. Tony always said that Ginny and George Garhart, were the best in-laws a Man could ever ask for. Tony changed careers and became a Life and Health Insurance Agent and retired after 35 years, being honored with many prestigious awards throughout his career. Outside of work Tony loved bowling, golfing, camping, attending company conventions, and traveling with Mary Jane and the kids. Tony was a great handyman and very inventive, working on many projects over the years. Tony was a Catholic and was proud to be a Son, Brother, Veteran, Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather. His sense of humor and Light will be missed by all.
