May 20, 1950 – August 17, 2026
Marceline (Steadman) Mason passed away peacefully on August 17, 2026, in the loving care of her family and caregivers, after many years of courageously facing various illnesses, including dementia. Though she had spent years missing her beloved husband, she is now reunited with him once again.
Marceline was born on May 20, 1950, in Long Beach, California, near Signal Hill, to Don William and Roxie (Richmond) Steadman. She grew up alongside her six siblings — Bill, Dan, Ron, Kim, Susan, and JulieAnn — in West Covina, California in a home that was always busy and where fun and laughter were always in abundant supply.
It was at a dance in Hacienda Heights, California, that Marceline met the love of her life, Mervyn LeVoy Mason. Their connection was immediate and undeniable — they were married just three months later, beginning a marriage that would last for decades. Together, Mervyn and Marceline made their home in Utah, Oregon, California, Tucson, and Mesa, Arizona, before finally settling in Tempe, Arizona, where they raised their five children surrounded by good friends and family. Mervyn worked for the Arizona State Land Department, while Marceline joyfully spent her days as a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.
Marceline was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and her faith remained a source of great strength throughout her life. She had a cheerful personality and a helpful nature and loved to fill her home with her hobbies and interests. An immensely talented seamstress, she loved to sew just about anything, and she had a true gift for decorating — one that occasionally extended into other people's homes as well, whether or not she was asked to rearrange things while she was there. She loved throwing parties, gathering with friends, and hunting for knick-knacks on shopping trips, always adding a little more charm and personality wherever she went.
Marceline was preceded in death by her husband, Mervyn LeVoy Mason, who passed away on June 6, 2001.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Aaron and Linda Mason, Cassie and Brad Bacon, Lee and Jennie Mason, Quinn and Cymri Mason, and Lon and Amelia Mason. She was a devoted grandmother to her 20 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and cherished every moment spent with her family.
Marceline will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to her family and faith, her enduring love for Mervyn, and the strength and spirit she carried through every season of her life. She now rests peacefully, once again by his side.
A small service with graveside to follow, will be held on August 29, 2026 at 10:00am.
