Born on September 10, 1937, in San Francisco, California, to Frederick and Barbara Meiswinkel, Margaret was the fourth of six children. She grew up surrounded by a lively family, including her three brothers, Rudy, Fred, and Joe, and two sisters, Rosa and Cecilia. Margaret attended Saint Boniface Grade School and graduated from Presentation High School before beginning her career as a stenographer at Wells Fargo in San Francisco.
In 1956, she met the love of her life, Eric Hansen. Following the completion of his military service in Germany, the two were united in marriage on October 29, 1960. They welcomed two sons, Tom and Mark, while living in San Francisco before moving to Arizona in July 1968, where they settled and took deep root in Tempe. Shortly after, their family was completed with the birth of their third son, Chris.
In Tempe, the family became devoted members of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church and School. Margaret was an active presence in the school community, generously volunteering her time assisting with school lunches and church events. As an exceptionally gifted seamstress, she lovingly made clothes for her family and shared her craft by assisting with sewing needs for the Nuns of the Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM) order who taught at the school.
Her talent and passion for sewing naturally led her to join the Holy Hobbies boutique crafters. For nearly 50 years, Margaret was a beloved participant in church boutiques and craft shows across the area, sharing her creativity and fellowship until her well-earned retirement following her final show in 2025.
Margaret is survived by her three loving sons: Tom, Mark, and Chris; and her cherished grandchildren: Michael, Meghan, Allison, Emily, Maggie, Rhena, and Kristen.
