

Mary Margaret Poehlein (Casey) was born on November 3rd, 1924 in Muren, Indiana to Virgil Edward Casey and Elsie Mae Davis.
She was married to Elden Wayne Poehlein in Oakland City, Indiana on November 14th, 1942 at the General Baptist Church. Together they had 3 children.
Their young family of 5 moved to Tempe, Arizona in 1956 where she attended ASU and received her Master’s Degree. Margaret was a teacher in the Tempe School District until her retirement in 1984. Her favorite year to teach was 4th grade.
Margaret enjoyed summer vacations which included yearly trips back to Indiana for family reunions as well as a trip to Alaska and a Hawaiian cruise. Margaret stayed very active throughout her life which her family believes contributed to her longevity and excellent health. She and her husband went on daily walks through their neighborhood and she attended exercise classes at the Pyle center in Tempe well into her 90’s. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and taught many of her granddaughters and great granddaughters how to make potholders.
Margaret is predeceased by her husband, Elden, son, Ronnie and granddaughter, Jaimie (Andy Trevizo). She is survived by her daughters Rita Phillips (John), Ruth Ann Baker (Richard), grandchildren, John (Darla), Clint (Rebecca), Derek, Ryan (Rachel), Jennifer (fiancé Craig), Molly (Mike), Andy (Rebecca), Robin (Josh), Meredith (Christian) as well as 36 great grandkids and 17 great, great grandkids as well as many nieces and nephews. She was blessed by a family of so many who loved and cared for her.
Margaret passed away peacefully in her home on August 8th, 2025. Services will be held on Monday August 18th beginning with a visitation at 9:00 followed by a funeral at 10:00 at Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary and Memorial Gardens in Phoenix, AZ.
