She was born on August 7, 1931, to the late George and Leona Billow.
She is preceded in death by her first love, her husband Edward Arthur Vieson, with whom she shared 3 children: Eugene Vieson (Teresa), Deborah McNeil, (Brian) and Sherry Carpenter.
Mary was blessed with a wonderful stepson, Douglas Schuchhardt (Jeanie), whom she loved dearly.
Mary's first husband, "Eddie", left this world far too soon due to heart disease from Rheumatic Fever, which he contracted while serving in Italy during WWII, leaving Mary as a young mother with their 3 children. She did a wonderful job navigating his sudden and devastating death while mothering their 3 children.
Mary went on to marry Paul Schucchardt and spent 50+ years with him before he preceded her in death. They shared a love for the West, moving to Arizona in the late 1970's, where they created a beautiful life together. They traveled to many places of interest in the States, as well as extensive travel to Alaska and Europe.
Mary was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Edward Vieson, Billy Carpenter, Joe Carpenter (Ashley), Rachel Perez-Delgado (Mitch), Tony Vieson (Michelle), Justin Miracle, Travis Vieson (Jessica), Kristen NeSmith (Tony), Miranda Vieson, Nathan Miracle, Stephen Miracle along with 15 great-grandchildren: Trey, Heaven, Stephanie, Genesis, Jazmine, Samuel, Joey, Simon, Charlie, Analisse, Rose, Siarah, James, Charlotte, and Abby. Also step-grandchildren: Jennifer, Scott, Darren, Jordan, and Addison.
Mary was a fortunate lady with some amazing neighbors. For more than 30 years, Joe and Laurane Sotelo, along with their daughter Sara, became her pseudo family. They celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, and many other life events over the years. Mary and Sara shared a birthday, which Mary found super special and loved the joint celebration.
Joe spent many days helping with home repairs, keeping a watchful eye, and answering her calls at any time of day and night. We are eternally grateful for the love and support given to our mother from Joe and Laurane.
Mary had a love for line dancing, traveling, collecting jewelry, and spending much time at the local American Legion. She was also quite the beauty queen - every Saturday, you'd find her at her beauty parlor getting her hair done. If you saw Mary out, her hair would always be perfectly styled.
She loved western-style attire. In her younger years, you'd find her in cowgirl boots, western clothing, with dangling earrings, dancing her heart out.
Mary had a love for animals, specifically those who'd not been afforded a life outside of the humane society. For many years, she and Paul had multiple rescues, in addition to a few pigeons with broken wings, which they had rescued from downtown Phoenix. If you paid Mary and Paul a visit, you would see an interesting sight of the pigeons walking in the back door and eating out of the dog's bowl. Mary also loved her fish - she had a plethora of fish in her private pond, whom she took great pride in caring for.
Mary loved Veterans of all branches, always supporting organizations that helped them. In lieu of flowers, we ask that friends and family make a donation to Wounded Warriors in her memory.
Mom, until we meet again, dance your heart out.
