A beloved wife, mother, daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, Melissa Ann Freeman (Jacobsen) left this world at 38 on January 21, 2020. Born in Emmetsburg, Iowa on July 21, 1981 to David Jacobsen and Linda Larson (Blighton). Melissa spent her early years in Iowa before moving to Arizona.
Melissa loved listening to her beloved son Dylan sing and play his music as singing was also her passion. She was funny, outgoing, and dynamic. Her name Melissa means “a honey bee” in which she was fiercely loyal. To her friends and family, Melissa also went by Missy, Mel, and Lissa. We will always remember her infectious smile, piercing brown eyes, and caring personality. Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed.
When you think of Melissa, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest.
Melissa was preceded in death by her brother, Bryan; grandparents, Delbert Jacobsen, Stub and Florence Blighton; and uncles Bob and Joe Blighton. She leaves behind her husband Josh, her son Dylan, parents David and Linda, her GG, stepchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
