Odis Estes

was born In Giddings, Texas on May 8, 1939 to Roland E. and Daisy M. Huff-Estes. Odis attended elementary school in Post Oak, Lee County Texas and graduated from Northwest High School on May 27th 1959, in Giddings, Texas.

He was called to his eternal home on October 15, 2012 at 10:43 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona.

Odis was baptized at Post Oak Baptist Church in Ledbetter, Texas by Rev. McNeil. Odis was an active member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Phoenix, Arizona for many years. Later, he joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Chuch and was an active member there until the time of his death. Odis was united in holy Matrimony to Carolyn K. Griffin on August 25, 1995.

After 38 years of service Odis retired from AT&T and than worked another five years and retired from Beldon in 1998.

Odis was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy M. Huff-Estes, his father, Roland E. Estes Sr., brothers, Roby Estes, Roland Estes Jr., Clarence Estes and Jewel Estes along with his sisters Evelyn Yancy and Ruth Blackshear.

He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn K. Estes, sons, Eric Estes Sr. (wife-Gwen) of Ft. Worth Texas, Steve and Victor Estes, both of Phoenix, Arizona. Brothers, Alonzo Estes of Phoenix, Arizona, Reynold Estes (wife-Jocelyn) of Augusta, Georgia, Dorothy Jarmon and Ida Mae Gantt, both of Austin Texas, Marie Estes-Lewis (husband-Clifton) of Boerne Texas and Georgetta Swisher of Pflugerville, Texas and his cousin Talmadge Huff of Lincoln, Texas.

Grandchildren; Eric Estes Jr., Tammy Estes, Candyce Campbell, Shamani Estes, Shantia Estes, John Ford Smith IV, Courtney Estes, Vanessa Mclain, Tianna Mclain, Chantwon Hillis and LaDawn Madearis and eight great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.
