
Ray was born on January 3rd, 1925 to Isaac and Xenia Williams in Amarillo, TX where he grew up on the family farm.
Ray enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1943 as a pilot where he actively served until 1945. He then transferred to the Air Force Reserves, serving until 1974, retiring as a Lt. Col.
He met his wife Wanda in 1945. They wed on November 6th, 1947 in Ajo, AZ and had two children Steven and David. He lived in Tempe, AZ until 2017 when he moved to be near his son.
Ray started his career with Salt River Project in the machine shop and attended ASU in the evenings achieving his degree as a Mechanical Engineer.
Ray enjoyed politics, current events, travel, football, and family.
Ray was predeceased by his wife, Wanda (Sparkman) Williams; son, Steven Williams; parents, Isaac & Xenia Williams; siblings, Isaac Williams, Don Williams, Rex Williams, Ruth (Williams) Wagner; and great-granddaughter Kaitlin Pike. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, David & Deanna (Walsh) Williams; grandchildren Danielle (Williams) Britton & husband Ronald, Buffy Williams, Nicole (Williams) Pike & husband Corey, Susan Williams; and great-grandchildren, Allyson, Coleby, Paxton, and Keagan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to: Alzheimer's Association. A graveside memorial service will be held at Resthaven / Carr-Tenney Mortuary & Memorial Gardens on Monday, October 25th, at 10:00am.
