Ricardo Francisco Araiza

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ricardo “Poncho” Araiza, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, who left this world on July 10th, 2026. Born on July 1st, 1965, in Phoenix, AZ, Poncho lived a life rich in love, music, and faith-a legacy that will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Poncho was the beloved son of Francisco and Sara Araiza. He was predeceased by his siblings, Rebecca Gonzalez, Linda Navarette, and Fernando Araiza, with whom he has now reunited with in eternal peace. His presence is deeply missed by his surviving siblings: Elvia L. Hill, Mary J. Sinohui, Ruth Beltran, Roberto Araiza, Rachel Araiza, and Sara Soto, who hold his memory close to their hearts.

A proud graduate of South Mountain High School, Poncho embarked on various professional endeavors throughout his life. Known for his unwavering work ethic, he showed up each day with dedication and perseverance. His commitment was not just to his work but to providing for his family and himself, embodying the virtues of hard work and responsibility.

Poncho’s spirit was bolstered by his deep faith, which he expressed through his love for attending church services alongside his sister Lydia and his great-nieces and nephews. His devotion was palpable, as he joyfully joined in the hymns and church activities, strengthening his connection with his faith.

Music was a big part of Pocho’s life. With a fondness for Old School tunes and Oldies, he filled his days with melodies that spoke to his soul. His love for the great outdoors was evident in his passion for camping and fishing- a joy he shared with his family during family trips up North to the lakes, where laughter and music filled the air around the campfire.

Poncho was a man of generosity and kindness, always ensuring that those around him felt loved and appreciated. He was a giver, never failing to surprise his family and friends with thoughtful gifts, especially during birthdays and Christmas. His great-nieces and nephews held a special place in his heart, and he relished in their joy and happiness.

In Poncho, we found a caring and loving soul who lived for his family. His bond with his sister Lydia was a testament to the strength of sibling love-they were inseparable, each other’s confidante and companion.

As we remember Poncho, we celebrate a life that was rich in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to those he held dear. In honor of his memory, his family plans to hold a celebration of life service, with details to be announced at a later date.

Poncho’s legacy of love and kindness will continue to resonate in the hearts of those who knew him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by music he loved and the family who adored him.
