March 23, 1935 – March 14, 2025
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
With heavy hearts, we are sorry to announce the passing of Pastor Robert C . Banuelos Sr.
He passed away in his home in the town of Guadalupe, Arizona on March 14, 2025, just days before his 90th birthday. Though we mourn his loss, we find comfort in the love he shared and the lasting impact he left on so many.
As a pastor and speaker, Robert dedicated his life to uplifting and guiding others. Through Iglesia Calvario, he built a place of faith and community, offering prayer to anyone in need. He spent his time writing sermons, sharing testimonies, and traveling to preach in churches across Arizona. He officiated weddings, baptized new believers, and comforted families through life’s joys and hardships. His voice and wisdom will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue through his daughter, Esther Jaramillo, and her husband, Frank Jaramillo, who will carry forward his ministry.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4
Born on March 23, 1935, to the late Jose and Dolores Banuelos family was the heart of Robert’s world. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Banuelos Jr., whose passing during the COVID-19 pandemic was a profound loss for him. Despite this, he remained a pillar of strength for his loved ones. He is survived by his grandchildren—Mary and Venessa Banuelos, as well as Esther’s children, Jeremy, Frankie, and Priscilla Jaramillo, and additional great grandchildren born into the family. His presence in their lives was filled with love, wisdom, and laughter, leaving them with many memories to hold onto forever.
Robert was also a beloved brother to Rosie Banuelos Reyes, Bertha Banuelos Mejia, Dora Banuelos Lopez, Lisa Banuelos Cota, and his brothers, David Cruz Banuelos, Johnny Cruz Banuelos, and Joe Cruz Banuelos. His deep bonds with his siblings and extended family were a reflection of the devotion he carried for those around him.
Above all, he was a devoted husband to Juanita Banuelos, who stood by his side faithfully and steadfast through every chapter of life. Their love and commitment to one another were a true testament to the strength of family and faith. They shared many anniversaries, birthdays, and church events together. Their marriage a testament to everyone to the very end.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
Robert’s humor, words, and unwavering prayer will be remembered by all who knew him. His ability to bring people together, share wisdom, and share God's Word was a gift he gave freely.
