Sandra Lee Roarty - Sanchez

Sandra, also known as Sandy, was born September 2, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan. She was the only girl of 3 children born to her father, Francis John “Red” and mother Rovetta Mae Roarty of Pennsylvania who often referred to her as “Doll”.

Sandra was best known as Gran-ma and was a force to be reckoned with. Family was everything to her and she did her best to instill the importance of family in the people she loved.

She was a stern, tell it like it is woman with the biggest heart. She lived her life by her own rules and to the fullest. Being in the kitchen was her favorite thing to do. Whether it was cooking her famous spaghetti or baking Christmas cookies with her grandbabies, she showed us how to be a family and create family traditions.

Sandra was a devoted Mother to her 4 children, Brenda Ramirez, Victor Fillmore, Tammy Kelso, and Rita Vasquez.

A caring Grandmother to Edward Ramirez, Melissa Ramirez, Tricia De La Garza, Felicia Ramirez, Andrew Frausto and James Vasquez Sr.

She was blessed with 21 Great-grandchildren: LeAnna, Alyssa, Anthony, Cyanna, Edward, Julian, Dominic, Reyna, Tristan, Isabella, Lejla, LeiLani, Daniel, James Jr., Andrew Jr., Johnny, Sonny, Colton, Samantha, Olivia, Cash, and 3 Great-great grandchildren: Naila, Edward Jeremiah, and Illaria.

Sandra also enjoyed the blessings of her Bonus children through the union of marriage.

Susan, Elaine, Sandra, Camille, and Jennifer, whom she extended her heart to and loved dearly.

As well as 12 more beautiful Grandchildren, 31 more Great-Grandchildren, and 6 more Great-great Grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Joe Sanchez, daughter Rita May, daughter Camille, grandson Edward John, father Francis John, mother Rovetta Mae, brothers Francis John “Sonny” and James “Jimmy” Roarty.

Services and Rosary will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at Resthaven Chapel, located at 4310 E. Southern Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85042. Services will begin at 9:30 am and conclude at 11:00 am. Graveside blessing to immediately follow at the Resthaven cemetery.
