Willie Ruth Grundy

W. Ruth Edwards Grundy was born on June 24, 1950 to W L (Willis Lee) Edwards and Pauline Thomas in Gilmer, Texas. Ruthie attended Phoenix Union High School in 1965 and later attended Arizona State University as part of the Upward Bound Program and the ASU School of Nursing. Ruthie was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and regularly taught Sunday school and choir. Ruthie met and married Elvin Garry Grundy and to this union three (3) children were born. Ruthie worked as a loyal employee of Phoenix Memorial Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospital, and later was employed with Motorola and Microchip Technology which she retired early from in order to care for her mother. Ruthie immensely enjoyed her family, grandkids, and great grandson. Ruthie was preceded in death by her parents, WL Edwards, Pauline Thomas, sister Mae Thomas Miranda. Ruthie leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy: a loving and devoted husband of over (51) fifty-one years Elvin Garry Grundy, daughter Tausha Renee Grundy, sons Elvin Garry Grundy, III and Fredrick Christopher Allen Grundy; Grandchildren: Maiah Tarin Hughes, Nico Fred Grundy, Jazz Suzanne Grundy, Aniya Gabrielle Grundy, and one (1) great-grandson Kylan Alexis Roar. Ruthie also leaves behind two (2) brothers Don Hicks and Freddie Hicks, two (2) sisters Patricia Anne Lee, and Carolyn Jean Davis, and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
