

Born on September 13, 1947, in Los Angeles, California, Frederick was the cherished son of Peter and Gracie Holmes. He spent his life committed to the values of family, service, and community. Frederick dedicated more than 45 years to the County of Los Angeles as a probation officer, where he was known for his compassion, integrity, and unwavering belief in second chances. His work touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on those he served and mentored.
Frederick was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Martha Sylvia Holmes, with whom he shared a beautiful life built on love, faith, and partnership. Together, they raised a close-knit and vibrant family. He is survived by his children, 30 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense pride and joy to his life. He was the heart of his family, always present with wisdom, humor, and unconditional love.
Outside of his professional and family life, Frederick had many passions. He was an avid fan of the Raiders and USC Trojans, rarely missing a game and always cheering with enthusiasm. A lover of classic music, he especially enjoyed the soulful sounds of Motown, often filling the home with music that brought people together. Frederick also proudly served his country—his sense of duty and patriotism remained strong throughout his life.
He will be remembered as a man of great strength, humility, and generosity. Whether offering guidance, sharing a story, or simply sitting quietly with those he loved, Frederick made everyone feel valued and heard. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched and the family he built and cherished.
A celebration of Life to honor and celebrate Frederick’s life will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Pico Rivera, 9107 East Washington Blvd, Pico Rivera, CA 90660.
Though he may be gone from our sight, Frederick will never be gone from our hearts. His life was a blessing, and his memory will be treasured forever.
