Mom I can't believe it's been 12 years. Your legacy will live on. My heart gets sad as the memories appear as each day gets closer to the 12 year mark that we laid you to rest. Rest easy mom for one day we will be together again 🙏🏼 ❤️

Auntie Gene, Precious time goes by so quickly and I'm sad your life was cut much too short.  I hate cancer and so many of us are fighting to help find a cure.  You were always a fighter, to the end and so fiercly protective of all those you loved.  Your kindness, warmth, love and compassion will always be with me and they live on in your amazingly strong and faithful children.  You are truly loved and deeply missed.  I love you Auntie Gene. You were an amazing woman, I have spent several days thinking about what I would say to you...  I want to thank you to you and your family for letting us be a part of your lives.  I am so thankful that my family and I had the opportunity to meet and spend time with you, thank you for including us even when you didn't have to. You treated us just like we were family even though we are only neighbors, always genuine.  My daughters adore you and Phil, thank you for treating them so well just like they were your grandkids. 
My heart aches knowing that you are gone and it aches for the amazing family you left behind who I seen suffering with you and giving up their own lives just to spend every last moment with you.  I will never forget your love for them, their love for you, your courage, and your fight clear up to the very end.  You are an inspiration.  Your life has touched us, just like it has touched so many.

Momma driving from Riverside to Pico Rivera has never been so hard. I always hated this drive but today I will never forget. I cannot believe you are really an angel now. My spirit and soul are breaking. You are a true example of what every mother should be. I'll never forget all the special memories that I have of spending time with you, You we're such a thoughtful and loving person. I used to Love staying with you in Whitter& walking Uptown, going to the teacher supply store to buy stickers, learning to sew & playing your piano. Also my Summers in Miraloma with the horses. I never realized how much of a role model you were to me till I got older, and I'm so grateful to have had you as my Auntie. I will miss your Beautiful smile. Rest in peace, I love you so much.

Yvette, you and the family are in my prayers. I do remember the first time I met your mom at Carls Jr. I could not believe how beautiful she was and how much alike we are, we had fun that day and we were talking like we known each others for years. Then Jonathan and I came and visited your mom at her home and I felt so happy how everyone made me feel as if I am part of the family. May God bless you and your family always.

Momma, I still cannot believe you are gone. My heart aches so much. You were so strong and taught me that no matter what the situation to love and accept. The impact you have made in my life and so many others is amazing. What am I going to do without you??? I listen to your voicemails every day and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. You were always so forgiving and loving to all. You truly are an inspiration to all who knew you. Every morning I wake up just praying it is all a nightmare.     I miss you so much already. Ive been blessed to have you in my life these last 5 years. You have taught me so much and you were always my ear to talk to. I so enjoyed all of our countless trips to the store. I always loved how we could shop for 4 hrs and still only spend pennies. It was all worth it cause I was with you. I have learned so much from you and will always treasure every minute we were together. You have raised beautiful kids especially my "Johnny Boy". May you rest in peace and one day we will meet again. I love you Mom!!!

Though I haven't seen your mother since we were teenagers, I vividly remember your mom  viewing our wild adolescent shenanigans with a healthy sense of humor and an unlimited supply of love. No matter how much Robo you drank, how much hair you shaved off your head, or how big of a spider web you drew near your eye, your mom would hug you and tell you she loved you (often in conjunction with your father issuing punishment). Love radiated through your house and touched every person in it. When I remember your mother, I always picture her wearing golden color clothing and jewelry, because the loving energy that came from her was warm, soothing, and happy—like a sunny summer day.

As a fey gay boy who Krazy Kolored his hair as much as you, I was not allowed into the homes of so many of my other friends' homes by decree of their parents. All I can remember of those moms is the stern, tight-lipped look of disapproval on their faces. But your mom welcomed me into her home the second you introduced me, and she always wore a big, beautiful smile on her face each time I saw her. I don't remember if she said this to me or this was just the energy I picked up on, but the Castro family rule was that any friend of their daughter's was part of the family. 

The love she brought into the world and sprinkled over all of those who met her will never die. When I think of her, I smile and am bathed in warmth. At that moment that I think of her, all the bad, frustrating, stressful, terrifying, and unhappy things happening in the world leave my mind. In that moment that I remember your mother, life is a little bit better, a little bit more hopeful, and a little bit more beautiful.

That is something that will live with me forever, and I suspect, everyone else fortunate enough to have encountered her golden smile.

Grandma, I miss you so much already. I will always hold on to our memories. I still can't believe you are gone; but I know that you are in Heaven now and you are not suffering any more. Until we meet again, I love you.

You were such an amazing person to have known. You raised such brilliant, loving and kind children that I am blessed to know. It was always a pleasure when you walked into the room, you always brought a bright and vibrant energy that always put a smile on everyone's face. Although your time here on earth was cut short I look forward to one day seeing you again waiting for all of us at heaven's gate.

Though I had never met you personally, John always spoke good words of you. I am sure you are greatly missed but no longer on this earth in pain, you are in Heaven pain free looking down on your family. My condolences to the family. I am sorry for your loss.

Such a sad time for the Castro family. I remember living across the street, playing at Hoover with Yvette, Biaggo, Steve, and Valerie. The tree out in front of the house, and Jean always knowing where everyone was and what they were doing. What a neighborhood should be! I always thought she made the best hamburgers!  Clearly she was a great mom!

My mom loved her candles.. So tonight I light a candle for her.. I love you mom!!!

You were and will always be one of my favorites.  I am saddened that you had to leave us so soon but I find joy in the knowledge that I will be seeing you again.  I love you and look forward to the day that  we neet again in the awesome presence of our Lord.  I will not say goodbye, I will simply say see you later.

Although I feel like I've known Genevieve through Valerie, I truly wish we had actually met. My heart breaks for what she went through this past year, but now she's where she can watch over her family lovingly and peacefully.  God bless her family and friends, and may your faith give you the strength to get through the final goodbye next week.

I remember hanging out with John after school and how his mom would always make sure I felt at home.  She was a wonderful woman and I know she raised a great man, John.  She will be missed.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you all.
