Gus, Christmas Eve 2013 (later today) is not going to be the same without you. No back and forth between you and Sidna (or me, Diane, for that matter). I know it might have looked annoying to other people but I know you only teased people that you loved. I am going to miss that tonight. Your brother is going to miss just having you there and so much more. Your sisters and brother and niece and nephews are so heartbroken. Grandchildren as well. Grumpi, we trust you are watching over us and if you could just break a glass or something tonight (like when Rudy broke the glass shelves on Sidna's den bar...we just knew it was him). Well, if you are so inclined why don't you have a little fun with us tonight? We love you and miss you so much! Merry Christmas, Gus. Love, Leo and Diane XOXOXO

Lorraine (and the Gonzalez family): I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. I looked through these pictures and saw him exactly as I remember him, in his younger years and with his grandchildren & great grandchildren. My condolences to you. He was a wonderful role model for your family and you were lucky to have him. But he was lucky to have you all too! With love and prayers, Julie (Reznack) Conniff SPHS '84

There were a few things about driving down Los Toros that would always make me feel home again, and that would be the strange feeling I would get when I drove by Tina Blandinos house, and the greeting with a smile that I got from Gus standing out on his porch. He was always outside, and EVERYTIME no matter how many times in a day I drove by he would say "Hi Sweetheart!". Although it was just a short interaction it was something that made home, home. He was a one in a million neighbor & I always felt that Los Toros was a safer street with Gus on alert! He was a good neighbor/friend to my parents and father to my brothers friends; I am sending the Gonzalez family all my love<3 and I want you to know that his simple kind words will stay with me forever. May Gus Rest in Paradise.

Gus treated me like a son and got on me a couple of times for misbehaving, and I value that now as a grown man. Thank you Gus.

I am truly sad by the loss of your Dad, I shared some great moments with your Dad and he kept me positive after the bad news I received on New Years Eve. He was always asking about my health and would give me great advice.
You're alot like your Dad, Be PROUD of that. He raised you well and I am honored to be a brother in law of a Gonzalez Family member.

My family and I are still in shock over your sudden departure. I am grateful that we got to meet you, celebrate with you, and share in the Gonzalez family experience......We will honor you in all that we accomplish and do in our lifetime. Watching boxing with your loving son Gary, daugher in law Alice and your handsome grandson Gary Jr......will not be the same...But I'll have a smile on my face knowing what your thoughts are as one of our favorite boxers is winning or losing in a match ......I'll miss those times ...RIP Mr. Gonzalez.....you are well represented and honored ...going forward.
