Born on May 27th, 1944, in the city of Los Angeles, Henry was the beloved son of Joseph and Henrietta Serna. He attended Bishop Amat Memorial High School and graduated as part of the Class of 1962, the second ever in the history of the school. He then enlisted in the U.S. Military in 1963 and served in the Army, earning the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. While stationed overseas in Germany, he met Kathi, the love of his life. The two were happily married for 59 years and built a loving home in both Santa Fe Springs and later in Downey. He spent his life dedicated to the virtues of faith, family, and his career as a professional truck driver.
Henry was well-known for his humor, kindness, strength, and generosity. He took great joy in his big rig, listening to music, watching westerns and war films, gardening, antique-collecting, and celebrating holidays and other special events with his family. He touched the lives of many through his positivity and faith-guided outlook on life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Henrietta, and his sister, Barbara. He is survived by his wife, Kathi; his children, Ingrid, Christopher, and Henry; his five grandchildren, Zachary, Daniel, Katherine, Maddy, and Isabel; his brother, Joseph Serna; and his beloved dog, Ruby. Henry will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
