Jesus Alvarez Mota was born February 02, 1950 in the city of San Pedro Analco, Municipal of Tequila in Jalisco Mexico to parents Ancelma Mota Lozano and Juan Alvarez Paredes. One of 7 siblings, Jesus grew up in Magdalena Jalisco.
He attended school until the 6th grade and early on helped become a provider to his mom. During his teen years he was exposed to mining for Opal in the caves of Jalisco. This venture allowed him to provide and purchase his first vehicle, a VW beetle. He started traveling to the US with other miners to sell his opal in Chinatown and return to work in the mines.
In 1976 while out here in California he made the decision to stay in the states, where he started working for a manufacturing company, Jerry Mann. He worked in the shipping and receiving dept. and soon after met his future wife, Maria del Pilar Oliveros.
Jesus and Maria married on Aug. 13, 1976 and began their life in Los Angeles California. They went on to have 5 children; Eloisa, Imelda, Jesus, Roger and Cesar.
Family life was important to Jesus. From celebrating everyone’s birthday with cake from Queen’s bakery in Chinatown, to watching the Dodger game and even going to Dodger Stadium. You would always find him behind the camera capturing pictures and swapping so that he’d be in the photo too. At times, he would be writing down recipes from TV or reading the dictionary to improve his English. His favorite meal was Birria and listening to music from Creedence Clearwater Revival would bring a smile to his face.
In 1996 Jesus lost his wife to cancer leaving him to raise his boys. Jesus was always a provider and instilled in his kids to always remain united. It is something he asked of them till his last day.
