

Maria Luisa Esparza, lovingly known as "Mary Lou", passed away surrounded by family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, creativity, and dedication. She was born on November 25, 1941, in El Paso, Texas, the first child of Silvester and Michaela Lopez.
A proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School’s Class of 1960, Mary Lou spent her life cultivating the interests and talents that brought her joy. She loved music, reading, and bowling, and she expressed a remarkable artistic spirit throughout her life. Her creativity was matched by her commitment to her community, where she was actively involved and always eager to help others.
Mary Lou began her longtime career with the El Rancho Unified School District (ERUSD) as a teacher’s aide. Through hard work and a genuine love for students and staff alike, she advanced to serve as a Principal’s Secretary. She cherished her work and the relationships she built over the years. After a fulfilling career, she retired from Burke Middle School, leaving behind countless fond memories and the respect of all who worked alongside her.
Mary Lou’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her sister, Angie Fuentes; her children, David & Margret Esparza, Debbie Gallego, Danny & Doreen Esparza, and Michele Esparza; her grandchildren, Nicole & Adrian Serrano, Joshua Gallego, Stevie & Ryan Meneses, Taylor Torres, Madi Gallego & Bryce Burton, Samantha & Victor Haro, Katie Esparza, and Sophia Esparza; and her great-grandchildren, Dean Burton, Evie Meneses, Ellie Serrano, and Kiari Meneses.
A Rosary will be held on November 29, 2025, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at St Hilary Church - Office, located at 5465 Citronell Ave, Pico Rivera, CA, 90660.
The Funeral Mass will follow on November 29, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the same location.
A Graveside service will be conducted on November 29, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Resurrection Cemetery, 966 Potrero Grande Dr, Rosemead, CA, 91770.
