Born January 23, 1957 ~ Passed Away June 14, 2026
Michael, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and lifelong curiosity. Born in Los Angeles, California, Michael spent his life cultivating deep roots. Most knew him as Mike, he was a quiet person but noticed most everything going on around him. He was quick witted and had a tremendous sense of humor.
For 35 years, Michael worked as a dedicated optical technician, a career that showcased his sharp precision and analytical mind. Outside of his professional life, Michael was a true lifelong learner with an eclectic mix of hobbies. Over the years, he passionately pursued photography, raised tropical fish, built and launched model rockets, explored computers, and spent peaceful hours reading or playing the guitar. He also loved the great outdoors, frequently finding joy while boating and camping with his family. Michael drew great strength from his faith, and a favorite Bible verse of his was Deuteronomy 31:8: “It is the LORD who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Denise. He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Leigha Gainey (husband Adam) and Sarah Wallace (husband Charles). He was the incredibly proud grandfather of his two beautiful grandchildren, Rebecca Wallace and Aiden Gainey. He also leaves behind his two loving sisters, Laura Bourdaa and Linda Haun Thompson, along with many extended family members and close friends who will miss him dearly.
Though we knew God was going to call you Home, we loved you while you were here with us and, if possible, even more now that you are no longer here. Our memories are cherished and will keep us together forever. We rejoice in knowing that we will all be together again in Heaven.
Family and friends are invited to honor his life at a Celebration of Life Service hosted on August 1st, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Funeraria del Angel Pico Rivera, located at 9107 Washington Blvd., Pico Rivera, CA 90660.
