

Robert Daniel Rodriguez Sr., affectionately known as Bob to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2025, in Fullerton, California. Born on September 23, 1949, in Pico Rivera, California, Bob's infectious laughter and genuine kindness touched the lives of all who knew him.
Bob's journey began in the Los Nietos/Santa Fe Springs area of Southeast Los Angeles, where he grew up and attended Pioneer High School in the late 1960s. His quick wit and great smile were his hallmarks, setting him apart from his peers and making him a beloved figure in his community. After high school, Bob's sense of duty and patriotism led him to enlist in the United States Marine Corps. Serving from 1969 to 1970 as an Infantry rifleman in the 1st Marine Division, 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines in Da Nang, South Vietnam, Bob demonstrated bravery and commitment to his country.
Upon returning from his military service, Bob began a career that would span over three decades at Spice Paper Company in Santa Fe Springs. As a warehouse worker, he played a crucial role in maintaining operations and delivering paper products to school districts and companies across Los Angeles County. Bob's dedication to his work was matched only by the friendships and bonds he formed with his colleagues, who remember him as an indispensable member of the team.
An ardent sports enthusiast, Bob's passion for athletics was undeniable. He was a fervent supporter of USC football, the Los Angeles Rams, the Los Angeles Lakers, and above all, a diehard fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers. His love for the game of softball was equally profound. As a competitive player for the Santa Fe Warriors, Bob's talent and sportsmanship led his team to numerous tournament victories. His devotion to coaching his sons' baseball teams was a testament to his love for the sport and his desire to pass on his knowledge to the next generation. He spent countless hours on the diamond, teaching not only his children but also mentoring many young boys at Smith Park in Pico Rivera.
In the fall of 1977, Bob's heart led him to Evelyn Alma Neal, originally from Oklahoma. Together, they built a loving family, with Bob adopting her oldest son Daniel and welcoming two more sons, Donovan and Robert Jr. Bob's commitment to family was unwavering, and he took immense joy in fatherhood. Family meant everything to Bob, and he demonstrated his commitment through his actions every day. He was a constant fixture at his sons' sporting events, cheering them on from the sidelines, and was always the reliable transportation for their friends after long practices. His dedication to his family extended to his sister Jean Holt's family, with whom he shared many joyous holiday celebrations. Bob's presence at these gatherings was a highlight, filling the room with laughter and love.
Bob's love for his family was evident in every aspect of his life, and he is survived by his three sons: Daniel Neal Rodriguez, Donovan Alfred Rodriguez, Robert Daniel Rodriguez Jr., as well as his nephew Daniel Robert Dixon, Sisters Jean Holt, Becky, Betty and Brother Fred. and his cherished grandchildren, Jordan and Mahaya Rodriguez.
A celebration of life will be held at Hope Community Church, 5044 Durfee Ave Pico Rivera, CA 90660 on Saturday, August 16th, 2025 at 11am.
