(August 27, 1968 - August 16, 2021)
Zeferino was born on August 27, 1968 in Catalinas, Michoacan, Mexico to Josefa Cornejo and Juan
Farias. He spent part of his childhood being raised in Mexico by his beloved grandparents, Mama Chinta
and Papa Pablo, and later moved to the United States to join his parents and siblings following the death
of his grandparents. After spending some years in Washington State with his father, he spent the
remainder of his youth growing up in Los Angeles where his mother and siblings were. He graduated
from El Rancho High School in 1987 where he met Esmeralda Mercado. On July 3, 1989, Zeferino and
Esmeralda welcomed into the world Andrew Steven Farias, his first-born child. In 1989, Zeferino began a
fruitful real estate career where he would spend over 30 years serving clients with their homes and where
he would eventually launch his real estate empire. Although eventually separating, Zeferino and
Esmeralda continued to raise their son Andrew in collaboration with each other and continued a lifelong
friendship. On December 31, 1995, Zeferino was married to Gricelda Farias in an intimate ceremony
where they were joined by their closest friends and family. Together, they were blessed with a son and a
daughter. On June 11, 1996, he welcomed his second son, Zeff Anthony Farias, into the world and was
later blessed by his first and only daughter, Karina Gricelda Farias, on July 1, 2002. He and his wife
Gricelda would go on to enjoy a blessed 26-year marriage that would last to the end of his life. He will be
remembered as a loving husband and father and for his love of family, positive energy, unique sense of
humor, and his unforgettable laugh and smile.
Zeferino will also be remembered for his impressive 32-year career and legacy in the real estate industry
which he began in 1989. Early in his real estate career he was embraced and mentored by the Klimenko
family and real estate group which would be influential in establishing his early career. After over a
decade of experience in the industry, Zeferino founded ZF Lending, a mortgage lending company, and
Commission Saver Real Estate in 2003. He opened the first branch of ZF Lending and Commission Saver in East Los Angeles where he built a highly successful and loyal team that would take him far.
Following his great success at his first office branch, he would proceed to open a total of four office branches expanding throughout Southern California in Montclair, Montebello, and Riverside. In addition to being a successful business owner, he was also passionate about giving back to the community. Zeferino actively participated as a member of the Board of Directors for the East Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce and was also a member of the Montclair Chamber of Commerce and the Better Business Bureau. In 2006, he was ultimately elected as President of the East Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce where he helped promote the support of small businesses in the community. Most recently, he was the Senior Loan Officer and Branch Manager of the Omni-Fund, Inc. Whittier office where he has been serving clients for over 8 years. Just before his passing, Zeferino was gearing up to launch a new company named Prestamos Baratos, Inc., where he had hoped to surpass the success he saw with his first companies. Our Zeferino was a dreamer and a visionary until the very end.
In 2010 Zeferino and his wife decided to embark on a new spiritual journey to strengthen their marriage
and to grow closer with each other and to God and joined an international Catholic movement, Teams of
Our Lady. They both wanted to bear witness of the love and mercy of God for their marriage restoration
and assist in other marriages as well. Zeferino and Gricelda were installed as a Whittier Sector Couple in
2016 when they began their servitude. In addition to his passion for serving the real estate community,
Zeferino also loved to serve his Church and will now advocate for Team’s marriages from above along
with Fr. Caffarel.
Zeferino is Survived by his wife of 26 years, Gricelda Farias, his son Andrew Steven Farias, his son Zeff
