She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Ray Crochet, Sr.; parents, Adley Daigle and Lena Hebert Daigle; and siblings, Claude Daigle, Sr., Calvin Daigle, Sr., Carol Daigle, and Jean Daigle Rodrigue.
Bessie is survived by her 4 children, Donna Sauce (Corey), Ray "Chip" Crochet, Jr. (Stephanie), Lisa Templet (Robert), Colette Laurent (Kevin); thirteen grandchildren, Corey Sauce, Jr., Devin Sauce, Jahnele Addison, Connor Crochet, Cameron Crochet, Lindsay Hebert, Tracey Templet, Megan Templet, Celeste Harned, Aaron Laurent, Renee Carrico, Anna Laurent, Daniel Laurent; ten great-grandchildren and one soon to be great great-grandchild.
She served as Secretary of Pierre Part Elementary School and later Pierre Part Middle School. An avid seamstress, she also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and cross stitching. This passion was shared with daughters and granddaughters as well as members of her quilting group. Her work and beautiful clothes are cherished by many family and friends.
Bessie was a devout Catholic, serving the St. Joseph the Worker Church as a member of the Catholic Daughters, a Religion teacher, bereavement committee member, and as the unofficial photographer for the Restoration of the Virgin Island Project which spanned over 4 decades. This work was a passion for both Bessie and her husband Ray.
The truest form of a servant’s heart, Bessie spent her “off time” serving the community, many times through small acts, never wanting to be recognized. A few of these include PTA (president), Girl Scout Leader, and Pierre Part Middle School and Assumption High School Band parent.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Joseph the Worker Virgin Island fund. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, for 8:30 a.m. at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part, La. until the Mass of Christian Burial for 12 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part, La. with interment to follow in the church mausoleum. Father Al Davidson will be officiating.
