On a beautiful sunny day in Belle River, Joseph Melton Pipsair, Joe, left this earth to reunite with his parents, brothers and sister. He is in a place of peace with the Holy Family, Jesus, Mary & Joseph, and all the saints. His loving heart, humble spirit and warm smile will be greatly missed.
Joe began his life in very humble beginnings in Belle River, Louisiana, on September 9, 1933, as one of six children born to Robert Pipsair, Sr. and Philomene Leonard Pipsair. He learned the value of hard work and dependence on God at a very young age. Education was a luxury and work was a means of survival. Beginning at the age of fifteen, he learned the construction business along with his brothers, later establishing his own business in the seventies.
On December 10, 1960 Joseph and Laura Nell Breaux were married in St. Joseph the Worker Church. They raised their family of four boys and one girl in the small community of Pierre Part. He was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion. He was also one of three members of the first St. Joseph the Worker Bereavement Committee. The entire family enjoyed Scouting with the Boy Scouts of America. Joe enjoyed coaching baseball in Pierre Part and supported the baseball program. He loved to watch LSU baseball and Saints football. He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a man of few words and he had a dry sense of humor. Joe’s family, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of his life. Holidays were a time of great family memories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Philomene Pipsair, along with his siblings and their wives, John and Lucy, Percy and Luanna, Chester and Lou, and Robert, Jr. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mazie and her husband, Alex Giroir. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, a brother-in-law, sister-in-law and two nephews.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of sixty-two years, Laura Nell, sons and their wives, Joey and Donna, Rhett and Donna, Jonathan and Nicole, Jeremy and Leah, and his daughter, Andrea and son-in-law, Brad Blanchard. Ruby Pipsair, sister-in-law, will mourn him as well as the ten grandchildren: Grant and Sarah, Jordan and Paige, Kai and Katie, Hayes and Victoria, Ali, Ryan, Claire, Alexis and Chandler, Kathryn and Cohen. The great-grandchildren, Abigail and Tate, Annie and Jack, Sylvia and Walker, will be blessed to learn and love through memories of Joe from their parents.
Joe was described by many as ‘a good man’. Born in Belle River, Joe ended his days gazing at the peace and beauty of Belle River.
The pallbearers are grandsons, Grant, Jordan, Kai, Hayes, Ryan and Cohen. The honorary pallbearers are Craig, Brent, Douglas Pipsair and Errol Giroir.
Services will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part on Friday, September 8, 2023 from 9 – 11:45am followed by a Funeral Mass at 12 noon. Interment to follow in St. Joseph Mausoleum.
