Rita Mae Blanchard

Rita was the heart of her family a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She worked hard her entire life and never hesitated to put everyone else before herself. Her greatest joy came from being with her family, creating memories she treasured deeply. Rita loved to dance, try her luck gambling, and enjoy a good meal, especially when it was her famous fried chicken. Cooking for the people she loved was one of the many ways she showed her care, and those moments around the table will be missed forever.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her six children, Brent Blanchard (Christy), Darla Domingue, Carol Domingue Jr. (Christine), Troy Domingue (Mary), Chad Domingue (Tosha) and Dwayne Domingue (DeAnna); twenty one grandchildren, Jeremy Giangrosso (Ashley), Lacey Billiot (Seth), Macie Kindell, Jayson Kindell, Drake Domingue, Hope Landry (Jody), Chasity Morales, Heather Hebert (Josh), Herbert Morales Jr., Kallie Domingue (Philip), Ryan Domingue, Sarah Domingue, Jennifer Guidry, Drakkar Domingue (Taylor), Tristin Domingue, Rayelyn Domingue, Dexter Domingue (Mylee), Katelynn Domingue, Blake Caro (Britt), Beau Salvadras and Bria Salvadras; twenty six great grandchildren, Konnor, Landon, Ava Grace, Charlee, Ellie, Kynnedi Rose, Brooklynn, Abbygail, Bryce, Brennen, Kollin, Karson, Grayson, Kane, Drew, Eleanor, Daxton, Liam, Jhett, Lakyn Jane, Blakely, Easton, Adalyn, Annie, Dani and Scottie; four siblings, Eve Rivere Ordoyne, Adam Blanchard Sr., Florence Cavalier, Henry Blanchard, and Roberta Crochet and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She is preceded in death by daughter, Rhonda Domingue; grandson, Derick Domingue; parents, Milton "Lulu" and Viola Berthelot Blanchard and her four siblings, Leonard, Dalton, Pierre and Virgie Blanchard.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to her caregiver Mary Stevenson for her excellent care throughout Rita’s time of need.

A visitation will be held at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part, LA on Saturday, February 14, 2026, from 8:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. Burial will be held at the Belle River Baptist Church Cemetery in Belle River, LA.
