Roberta Alice (Breaux) Daigle

As a life-long resident of Pierre Part, Louisiana, she is remembered as a devoted wife, loving mother, patient grandmother, Christian godmother, loyal friend and dedicated business woman with a generous spirit. She enjoyed living along the bayou that is central to her Cajun French heritage, culture and community. She attended Pierre Part elementary school, Saint Mary of the Pines middle school in Chatawa, Mississippi, and Assumption High School in Napoleonville, LA. She was a member of the AHS basketball team and proudly graduated among the top academic students of her class in 1949.

Roberta was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church. She found great joy singing in the church choir for nearly 75 years and serving others through church events and prayer groups. She was a member of the American Legion Post 328 Auxiliary and a frequent patron of the Assumption Parish Library.

Her career began in her family’s grocery and seafood businesses. While living in New York City during her husband’s military service, she enjoyed working in a fashion boutique. She continued in various retail store operations until her official retirement at age 83.

Her warm smile, kind words, optimism and home-cooked meals brightened the lives of many people. She enjoyed traveling, speaking in French with visitors, reading, and having dogs and cats as house pets. Her descriptive storytelling style was entertaining and offered wisdom to her customers, family and friends. Phrases like “Mais, grace,” “How you do?” “Moi je ne crois pas!” and “Je t’aime” were ones she spoke often.

Roberta is survived by her sons Michael “Mike” Daigle and Anthony “Tony” Daigle; daughters-in-law Cathy Rushing Daigle and Jeanne Solis; grandchildren Erin Daigle Jarrell (Jacob), Sydney Nicole Daigle-Merritt (Adam) and Chase Patrick Daigle (Caitlin); great-grandchildren Carter Jarrell, William Jarrell IV, Adeline Jarrell, Ava Jarrell and Adrien Daigle-Merritt; and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alger Joseph “Pip” Daigle, brother Leonard Breaux (Ruby), and parents Renodier Pierre Breaux and Odette Giroir Breaux.

Visitation services are Tuesday, 9/8/2026, from 9-10:45am at Ourso Funeral Home, Pierre Part, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church starting at 11am. Entombment will occur in the church mausoleum immediately following services.
