

A lifelong commercial and recreational fisherman, Sherfey John “Billy” Fryou Sr. loved nothing more than feeling the tug of a big bass on his pole, coming across a full crawfish trap, and a net full of fish. Best known as “POPA”, his big strong hand shake, making hoop nets, and his beautiful blue eyes. Born October 14, 1938 as the second child of sixteen children to Clarence and Bertha Fryou. He entered Heavens gates at 2:40 p.m. on November 15, 2015 at the age of 77, surrounded by his dearest family and friends. Billy was a family man devoting his entire life to providing and caring for his loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Atrice Hebert Fryou. He sadly leaves behind two daughters, Jill Fryou and June Fryou Hedges and husband, Gregory. He was also graced with eight grandchildren; Liza and husband, Ronnie, April and husband, Jimmy, Kiki and husband, James, Alaina and husband, Tony, and Doobie and wife, Megan, Sherfey Fryou III, Hannah Landry and husband, Tyler, and Jennifer Fryou; Fifteen great grandchildren; Gabi, Koby, Brye, Avery, Brayden, Adilee, Anna, Baylor, Brenton, Austen, Daxx, Elizabeth, Porter, Tori, and Cheyenne; his fur baby, Brownie. He is survived by four brothers; Sterling and wife, Patsy, Curtis and wife, Mable, Cleveland and Roy, and wife, Debbie. Three sisters; Joann and husband, Mike, Judy, and Dale. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Sherfey Jr. and beloved daughter, Hope Marie; parents, Clarence and Bertha Wiggins Fryou; two brothers, Andrew and Cal; six sisters, Theresa, Rose Mary, Mary Lou, Catherine, Mayola, and Kaleen; one fur baby, Ninnie. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. – 10:45 a.m. at Ourso Funeral Home in Pierre Part. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Pierre Part at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in church cemetery.
