OBITUARY

Thomas "Tommy" James Aucoin Jr.

September 6, 1979May 9, 2020

Tommy Aucoin, Jr., went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 4:30 PM at the age of 40, surrounded by his loving family. Tommy was the very beloved son of Wanda Gaudet Aucoin and Thomas James Aucoin, Sr., and the much adored father of Kila Stansbury and Bruce Aucoin. In addition to his parents and children, Tommy leaves behind his loving and bereaved grandmother, Emelda Landry, and godparents, Kim and Larry Haber, all of who he loved and had a tremendous respect for. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, and cousins whom he held dear to his heart.

Tommy was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Aubrey "Buddy" Gaudet, step-grandfather Kirby Landry, great-grandparents Hilda and Earl Gaudet, step-great-grandparents Anne and Sammy Landry Sr., great-grandmother Philomene Rodrigue, and step-great-grandfather Leo Rodrigue, step-great-grandmother Eva Domingue, and great-grandfather, Dewey Domingue, Sr. He was also preceded in death by paternal grandparents Myrt and Carroll Aucoin, Sr., great-grandparents Belle and Evest Bourgeois, and Martha and Albert Aucoin, Sr., as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Tommy cherished his children; they were his pride and joy. He loved his children and his family with all his heart. He was willing to help anyone anytime they needed him, and often went out of his way to do so; he would have given the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He enjoyed fishing and frogging immensely, and he was an excellent cook. He was also a skilled diesel mechanic. He was capable of lifting anyone's spirit with his quick wit and unique sense of humor. He possessed a very loving and forgiving heart and he felt empathy for anyone facing obstacles, pain, or grief. He will be greatly missed, and forever loved.

The family wishes to thank the first responders and officers for their assistance. They would also like to thank the staff at Ochsner's St. Mary, and the staff at Ochsner Hospital's Main Campus in New Orleans, with special thanks going out to the nurses who took such good care of Tommy. Thanks to Chaplain Tiffanie for her prayers and compassion, and special thanks to everyone who prayed for Tommy and for his family during this difficult time. The family also extends thanks to Ourso Funeral Home, and staff, with special thanks to Dustin Quibodeaux for his patience, kindness, and excellent service.

Spite whatever trial or tribulation that lil Tommy faced, he always had a smile on his face when I saw him and he was never too busy to stop and say hi. He never pretended to be something he wasn’t; he was an authentic guy. It hurt my heart so bad to hear of his passing. He had so much love left to give and is gone way too soon. Ms. Wanda, Mr. Tommy and Ms. Emelda; you are in my prayers and thoughts. I pray that God provides you, your family , Tommy’s dear friends and surely his two children with peace and comfort in the midst of this unfathomable time. Of the many people I know, lil Tommy had one of the most beautiful souls I’ve ever seen.....God Bless

My I have so many memories. So many laughs, cry's, jokes, nightmares, thoughts, dreams, inventions, ideas etc Tommy and I have shared over the years. But above all.. Love, True Friendship, Respect and Loyalty. That's what I remember best. My heart goes out to the Family. To all who knew Tommy .. He loves his family and his sons with a passion. I cannot say enough how sorry I am for your loss. Tommy was such a good friend to me. Always knew how to bring me out of depression. Always got a smile out of me. God I'm going to miss him. But he is free of all that burdened his heart and soul here. For that I smile. for that I will celebrate his new beginning. See ya my dear friend. Sooner or later. I will see ya. Until then... Please take the place of my last guardian.. she is wore out. Love you forever... Hope (less)
