Barbara was born in St. Louis, MO where she attended Hope School, Lutheran High School. After being a secretary at the Municipal Opera for a number of years, she went into nursing. She received her BSN/PHN from Cal State, Los Angeles and her MSN from University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her PhD in Thanatology is from the Union Institute.
Barbara was a registered nurse and her career alternated from the bedside to teaching students including teaching a thanatology course on a college level.
Barbara was involved in Hospice since it's inception as a nurse, a board member, bereavement counsel and always a volunteer. She was also active in Garden Clubs, PEO and her church.
Her husband of 41 years died in 2006. Surviving are a daughter, two grandchildren, her sister and neices and nephews.
A memorial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.
