Carmen Becker, age 89, of Pompano Beach, FL passed away May 31, 2012. Carmen was born in France and met her late husband, Dr. Robert Becker when he was in France during WW II. Together they lived in Germany for a few years before moving to East Northport, NY where they ran an insurance company, real estate business and eventually a travel agency. Carmen and Robert had two children, a daughter, Hettie, and a young son but sadly both children pre-deceased them. Carmen loved her dogs and ballroom dancing but was best known (along with Robert) for being the most traveled couple in the world according to the Guinness Book of World Records for several years running. She was also a long-time member of the Traveler Century Club along with her late husband. Together they traveled to over 300 countries and territories! In 1987, the Beckers became the first couple on a civilian expedition to the South Pole and at age 65, Carmen was the first female senior citizen to ever set foot there. Carmen was a remarkable, kind-hearted and adventurous woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew her and were fortunate enough to call her a friend. “
