OBITUARY
Donald H. Lawrence
October 11, 1948 – January 24, 2019
Don Lawrence, 70, of Lighthouse Point Fl passed away with his family by his side on January 24, 2019 after a brief and unexpected illness.
Don is survived by his wife Sandy, son Travis and his brother Ed.
Donald Lawrence was a lifelong resident in the Lighthouse Point area since the late 1950’s, Don was an incredibly gifted self-made man, building a highly successful career pool by pool from the ground up starting in the 1970,s in what was a fledgling swimming pool industry at the time. He knew pools like the back of his hand, in every aspect, having built them, cleaned & repaired them and ultimately, for the last 35 years along with his wife Sandy, specialized in pool leak detection & repair; pioneering in that field which only in recent years has undergone pop-up franchising.
Don was very proud to pass his leak detection legacy to his son Travis who continues on with the family business of over 50 years.
Don was best known as the Leakseeker and was well liked and well respected by everyone who knew him, all he met and all whom he had the opportunity to solve pool problems for. He was the first one to always be ready with a helping hand we will always remember his many kindnesses.
He was the genuine article of, ” what you see is what you get”. Generous to a fault with not one pretentious bone in his body. He was just Don, making the best of things & always making us laugh. No one could laugh at themselves like he could. He had a great big heart and a great big smile to match.
Don and his wife Sandy were an inseparable team, working together 24/7 for almost all of their 39 years together. Not many can say they are much luckier than that.
He will be fondly remembered and so very keenly missed.
In honoring Don’s wishes that that there be no formal arrangements or service, a private memorial is being planned for him at a future time and place.
Our family encourages all friends, family & well- wishers to please leave your condolences and maybe even share a favorite memory or story you may have about Don.
He would have liked that.

Dearest Sandy and Family,
Our hearts are broken with the loss of your beloved, Don. We remember him for his energy, smile, blue eyes, laughter, and gravelly voice. He was fun, quick witted, and always positive.
The two of you balanced each other, the Ying and Yang of couples, working together, running a business, and committed deeply.
Sandy, you were the ultimate caretaker while Don was fighting so hard to conquer his illness.
Your Chicago family mourns his passing. If you need us, we're here, come visit. You can play in our snow!
We love you,
Ron and Nancy

Sandy,
I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your husband, my heart goes out to you and your family. I only met Don once so many years ago, but I do remember witnessing love and affection your shared with him. Don was very kind and so unbelievably friendly to me and my family.
Sadly, life is too short, I hope you are able to hold close your precious memories.
My deepest sympathies,
Kathy

Don will be remembered by his easy going spirit and his contagious laugh. I have a funny memory to share about when Don and Sandy visited us in Ontario where we "experience weather" in their words. Don was out fishing on Four Mile Lake and brought in a few fish for dinner. We laughed so hard that it required vicks to be stuffed into his nostrils in order for him to clean the fish without gagging. Many years later a similar scenario with Don's sense of smell occurred at our home with our gassy labrador "Gabriel". Don had to leave the room.
Sandy you have been an excellent wife and in the end nurse to Don. I know that you would leave no rock unturned to find the absolute best treatment for his rare condition. You could speak eye to eye with the Doctors on their level to help unravel the puzzle of his illness. I know you have a huge hole in your heart and I pray that you will receive comfort from your faith in Christ and also your close relationship with Linda. You are loved by your Canadian cousins and welcome to come to see us anytime. Love Heather and George
