Elaine was born on January 6, 1936 in Asheville, North Carolina. She spent most of her childhood growing up in the small city of Idabel, which is located in the southeast corner Oklahoma. After graduating high school, she attended Stephens College and the University of Oklahoma where she majored in education.
After obtaining her degree, Elaine became a teacher in the Broward County and taught English at Pompano Beach Middle School. She later became a librarian within the Broward County Library System.
She later married Charles Edward Keiler, Jr. in Idabel, Oklahoma on July 5, 1958. Ed and Elaine moved to the Pompano Beach area shortly after their marriage.
Together, they raised three children, Charles Edward Keiler lll - 56, Douglas Griffin Keiler - 55, and Susan Elaine Keiler - 51. Elaine is also survived by three terrific grandchildren, Alexandra Shana Keiler - 27, Alissa Brunel Keiler - 24, and Jake Edward Keiler Wheeler - 12.
Elaine and Ed were married for 55 years, at the time of his death. During more than five decades of marriage they shared Ed’s many professional successes as an architect, as is evidenced throughout the Pompano Beach and Lighthouse Point vicinity.
Elaine Keiler will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her family and many close friends.
