Ernest Giese

Ernest ‘Ernie’ Giese, age 87, of Deerfield Beach, entered his Heavenly home on Thursday, June 25, 2015. He passed away peacefully at Broward Health North surrounded by his loving family after a long battle with many illnesses.

Ernie was born August 3, 1927 in Waukesha, WI to the late Ernst and Catherine Giese. He graduated from Waukesha High School in 1945 and then served in the Army. Upon discharge, he married the love of his life, Orva June (nee Koch) on November 29, 1952. He worked for Golden Guernsey Dairy in Waukesha as a route salesman until 1973, when the family moved to Pompano Beach, Florida. In 1978, he found his real joy in real estate, as a successful Century 21 agent. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan.

He loved to talk to people and was always willing to lend a helping hand and share his Christian faith. He was an active church member in Waukesha and Pompano Beach, holding numerous positions of church leadership.

Ernie is survived by his beloved wife Orva June of 62 years; Devoted daughters Teri Lynn (Barry) Fuentez, Winter Springs, Fla; Patti Johnson, Holly Springs, NC; Sally (Jeff) Hugo, Crawfordville, Fla; Nancy (Richard) Long, Deerfield Beach, Fla; Judy (Scott) Competiello, Ocala, Fla. Proud grandfather to Ryan (Denise) Johnson, Keith Johnson, Ashlei (Anthony) Martinez and Ashley Competiello; great grandfather to Parker and Olivia Johnson. He leaves behind a sister-in-law, brother-in-law, many nieces, nephews and friends that have been touched by his love and gentle spirit.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 2:00 pm in the Kraeer Funeral Home chapel, 1199 NE 36th Street, Pompano Beach. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 7 to 9PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ernie’s name can be made to Pompano Lutheran Church Building Fund.
