Manville was a man I deeply respected. He was my friend and a great leader. I’m honored to have known him and grateful that we crossed paths in this lifetime. My condolences to his family. His presence will be greatly missed. 

Manville was my manager during one of Spherion's transition phases. I came to know him as a man of grace and courage and as a leader I could trust. He could find clarity in the midst of uncertainty, creating an environment for this front line person to continue on with hope.

Bonnie, my deepest sympathy to you and your family. 

Manville was an extraordinary man. He had many gifts including a keen intellect and a deep understanding of human nature, and he used them to great benefit in whatever endeavor he undertook. He was a superb teacher and a wise leader. He was a wonderful boss and mentor and I feel privileged to have known him. 

Manville was old-world and new-order all rolled into one man. He had a generous spirit and always seemed to know when someone needed a lift or an honest opinion. Never at a loss for words, Manville often withheld his own to listen and learn what was important to others. He was respectful of everyone and greatly respected by all of us who worked with him. 

Manville will touch the future for many years in the lives of those whose lives he touched.


Manville - should we meet again in a place we call Heaven, it will be a blessing to all of use who knew, respected and loved you.  You were a gift to our lives.

Manville was a wonderful boss and mentor who led our consulting group through challenging times (on more than one occasion). He was an amazing leader who was respected by his colleagues for his fairness, honesty, and thoughtfulness. He treated everyone with dignity and respect, always having the best interests of his team at heart.

I will remember Manville's humor, his composure under fire, his incredible vocabulary (that had me reaching for the dictionary on more than one occasion) and his vision.  It was a pleasure to have known and worked with this amazing human being.  




My deepest sympathy to Bonnie and the family.  Manville was one of the finest people that I have known. I will forever value his wisdom and leadership. I loved his candor and practical approach to most everything. He really was a renaissance man. There were few topics he couldn’t engage in and teach you something about. It was a pleasure and honor to have known and worked with him.

My deepest condolences to Bonnie and the entire Smith family. A finer man you will never find. Manville was the consummate professional and a wonderful leader.

I have such fond memories of working with Manville. He will be missed by all he came in contact with during his career.

My deepest condolences to Bonnie and the family on the passing of Manville. He was a tremendous mentor and colleague and all around great person. I will always be indebted to him for giving me an opportunity at Spherion to spread my wings and fly in sales. I learned so many things from him. His kindness and generosity along with his genuine care of others made him a pied piper that everyone would gladly follow - a true leader in every sense of the word. I am sure he is now coaching the angels to achieve their full potential like he did so many of us here on Earth. He will always hold a special place in my heart. 

Manville was a true gentleman--he was one of the kindest people I've ever known. But he was more than just kind--he genuinely tried to understand people and work with them even when there was plenty of crazy going on. He also had a delicious sense of humor, which I remember fondly (like sending me a copy of Machiavelli when I just couldn't understand corporate politics). Rest well Manville, you've earned it my friend.

Manville was a kind and considerate person...a true gentleman.  I was fortunate to have the chance to work with him at Spherion. I know he will truly be missed by all who knew him.

What a wonderful man!  Always smiling and always so nice and very friendly to me.
I have fond memories of Mr. Smith.  The world has lost a good man and a kind soul.
